ABERDEEN — The Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce is set to hold its annual Aberdeen Daze on Saturday, June 25.
Kayson Vollmer, Aberdeen chamber president, said the events will take place throughout the day starting at 6 a.m. with a breakfast in the park. Events held throughout the day will include a raffle at 10 a.m. a ping pong drop at 11 a.m. and the popular fish fry from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The day will end with a softball championship at 7 p.m. at Whalen Baseball Park.
“There will be food vendors and different vendors in the park throughout the day,” said Vollmer.
Vollmer said Aberdeen Daze is an event that has been held annually for many years.
“It’s been going on a long time,” he said. “I can’t say exactly how many years.”
He also explained how the event is important to the city. The event is a great way to bring the people of Aberdeen together, Vollmer said.
“I think it’s a matter of getting together as a community,” he said. “It’s a special time to come down and gather with friends and family.”
Vollmer said many people who come to Aberdeen Daze are people outside of Aberdeen who may have once lived there.
“It’s also an opportunity to reunite,” he said.
