The number of active cases of COVID-19 has dropped in both Custer and Lemhi counties, according to Monday’s data from Eastern Idaho Public Health.

At the end of the day Monday, there were three active cases reported in Custer County and six in Lemhi County. Just one active case was reported in Butte County by Southeastern Idaho Public Health.

No new deaths have been reported in any of the three counties in more than a week. Lemhi County has tallied 23 deaths from the virus. Two deaths were reported in Lemhi County on Dec. 23, 2021, a woman in her 40s and a man in his 70s. Custer has recorded six deaths and seven deaths have been counted in Butte County.

Statewide, another 1,420 new cases of the virus were confirmed on Monday, Jan. 3, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported. That brings the total number of confirmed cases in Idaho to 320,802. The statewide death count from the virus is 4,169. That translates to 228 deaths per 100,000 people.

Across Idaho, 893,193 people are fully vaccinated and 326,447 Idahoans have received their booster dose.
