Idahoans who want to purchase a hunting license this year but haven’t yet taken a hunter education class, can enroll for a class planned in Salmon.
The three-part class is scheduled for March 16-18. Classroom instruction occurs from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 17 at the Idaho Fish and Game office in Salmon at 99 Highway 93 North. A field exercise is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 18.
The course is open to people age 9 and older. Topics to be covered include firearm handling and safety, hunting laws and ethics, responsibilities toward landowners, hunting skills, wildlife identification, survival skills and first aid and management and conservation.
Advance registration is required and the class size is limited. People can enroll online via the Fish and Game website at https://register-ed.com/events/view/194870 or in person at the Salmon Fish and Game office. A $9.75 fee is charged. Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1975, must complete a hunter ed course before purchasing an Idaho hunting license.
