Kelli Ann Strand, a 2022 graduate of Challis High School, helped her Nebraska team to a second-place finish at the Florida Atlantic University Paradise Invitational golf tournament earlier this month.
Challis High School graduate Kelli Ann Strand placed fifth in a field of 75 golfers at the first tournament of the college spring season.
Strand shot a five under par 211 over three rounds on the par 72 course. Her scores were 70 on rounds 1 and 2 and 71 on round 3. The tournament was held Feb. 6 and 7.
Strand and her University of Nebraska teammates finished second in the team standings with a three-round score of 860, which was four under par. Vanderbilt University won the tournament, played at Osprey Point Golf Club in Boca Raton, Florida, with a team score of 835.
Strand was one of two Nebraska players to finish in the top 10. Her teammate Miu Takahaski shot a 214 to finish in a four-way tie for 10th.
Strand and her teammates next compete in Peoria, Arizona, Feb. 26 and 27.
