NAMPA—The Arabian Horse Association will be bringing its 2018 Sport Horse National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show to Nampa nest week at the Ford Idaho Horse Park.
This Sport Horse Nationals, which runs from Tuesday through Sept. 22, is the only Sport Horse show offered by a breed association and will include solely English events. Some of the events will include dressage, jumping and driving — plus there are many different family events such as a silent auction and behind-the-scenes tours.
This show is one of five major events put on by the Arabian Horse Association each year, according to Director of National Events Kelsey Berglund. In addition to the Sport Horse Nationals in Nampa, they also put on a U.S. Nationals, Canadian Nationals, Youth Nationals and Distance Nationals. Berglund said Arabian Horse Shows are very unique, because they include a diverse range of events.
“We pride ourselves on being one of the most versatile breeds of horse,” Berglund said. “Our horses do everything from working cow to native costume to jumping — so there’s just a huge variety of events.”
According to Berglund, the Arabian Horse Association switches between East Coast and West Coast each year for events. Due to Nampa’s central location in the West and a lot of support from the Idaho Horse park, Berglund said it’s the perfect place to hold the event.
