The prosecutors for Bonneville and Teton counties will host a public forum on Jan. 28 to discuss firearm and self-defense laws.
Bonneville County Prosecutor Randy Neal and Teton County Prosecutor Bailey Smith announced the forum in a news release. It will be held at the Teton School District Administrative Building in Driggs at 10 a.m.
Neal wrote that he arranged the forum after participating in a similar event in Swan Valley, where a Teton County resident asked if a forum could be hosted closer to home.
The event, which will be free, will allow participants to discuss and ask questions about gun laws and other legal questions.
In Idaho, residents are allowed to carry concealed firearms without a permit, with exceptions for some public spaces such as courthouses, schools and jails.
“In a community where many people own and carry firearms, as is their right under the Second Amendment, it is important for individuals to understand the laws governing the possession and use of those firearms, and the limits of permissible self-defense,” Smith said in the release.
