Scott Hensley

An Idaho Falls man was arrested after he reportedly choked a woman in front of her children on Saturday.

Scott Robert Hensley, 36, also reportedly punched and kicked the victim. The victim told Idaho Falls Police Department officers she was unable to breathe. She said her children were present during the attack.

Hensley reportedly took the victim’s phone after she said she would call 911 to report him.

After the victim did report the attack, police searched for Hensley until Sunday when he was found in the area of North Avenue and Irving Street.

Hensley is charged with attempted strangulation, punishable with up to 15 years in prison, and intentional destruction of a telecommunication line, a misdemeanor. A no-contact order was issued between him and the victim.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 5 in Bonneville County Court.
