POCATELLO — Despite facing felony sex crime charges in Bannock County, two Pocatello men have been released from jail after posting bond earlier this month.
Joel Abraham Mingura, 31, and Dennis Justin Wright, 23, spent approximately 24 hours incarcerated at the Bannock County Jail before they each posted $2,500 bonds following their Aug. 16 arrest.
Though specific details of the allegations against Mingura and Wright remain sealed under judicial order, the criminal complaints against each man say they engaged in sex acts with the same 13-year-old boy sometime between May 22 and 27.
Mingura faces one felony count of lewd conduct with a child under the age of 16, and Wright has been charged with one count of lewd conduct with a child under the age of 16 and one count of rape, both felonies.
Both men were arrested in Pocatello on Aug. 16 and made their initial court appearances that same day in front of Judge Paul Laggis via video conference from the Bannock County Jail.
Though arrest warrants were issued with bond amounts of $40,000 for Mingura and $75,000 for Wright, Laggis reduced both men’s bond to $2,500 each during the Aug. 16 court hearing.
Both men posted bond on Aug. 17 and were released from jail.
Mingura and Wright are due back in court on Wednesday for preliminary hearings that will determine if there is enough evidence against each man to take their cases to trial.
Mingura has retained Pocatello attorney Stratton Laggis to represent him and Wright has retained attorney Craig Parrish, also of Pocatello.
If convicted of the charges against them, Wright faces up to life in prison and up to $100,000 in fines and Mingura faces up to life in prison and up to $50,000 in fines.
