More than 600 people participated in a July 20 scavenger hunt to raise money for scholarships for College of Eastern Idaho students.

The Great Race for Education, now in its 10th year and the largest such competition in the area, is sponsored by, among others, Snake River Landing, Fluor Idaho, Mountain View Hospital, Battelle Energy Alliance Operators of the Idaho National Laboratory, Idaho Central Credit Union, Fisher’s Technology, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Wells Fargo and Teton Auto Group. Thirty-three teams with four members each solved clues and competed in challenges around downtown Idaho Falls.

The event raised more than $50,000 for scholarships to CEI students over the next year.

Teams from Strategic Social Partners, Old Skool All-Starz and Idaho Central Credit Union took first place. Bateman-Hall Inc. took second and Team Cargill took third.

“Our community is so generous and supportive of helping our students,” said CEI Foundation Executive Director Natalie Hebard. “Many of our students would be unable to continue their educational journey if it were not for the outpouring of financial support from individuals, corporations, local civic organizations and grant funding. Every year our foundation is able to scholarship nearly one-third of our students and we hope to continue this trend as we grow.”
