An infant who transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in Idaho Falls died of their injuries.
Idaho Falls Police officers and Idaho Falls Fire and EMS personnel responded at about 3:20 p.m. to the area of 2200 N. Yellowstone Highway, a police department news release said.
First responders determined that a red 2005 Dodge Ram had stopped in the center lane facing south. A silver 2014 Nissan Sentra was traveling south in the right lane when the Ram attempted to make a right-hand turn into a parking lot in front of the Sentra, causing the collision, the release said. The Ram’s driver was the sole occupant of that vehicle while the Sentra was occupied by the driver, a passenger and an infant. The infant was being tended to by an occupant of the vehicle in the backseat and was not secured in a car seat at the time of the collision, the release said.
None of the names of those involved in the accident have been released. This collision remains under investigation.
