With all the horrible mass shootings and the hysterical cries to restrict gun sales, I thought I'd look up some stats: gun deaths versus drug deaths. And you know what?

Four times as many people died of drug overdoses than of gun violence in America in 2021 (80,000 versus 20,000). And that's not counting the gun deaths in the U.S. and Mexico from drug trafficking and drug wars. But do you see those deaths reported in the newspaper? Or do you hear cries about stopping them? We could stop the deluge of drugs into this country if we really wanted to. And we could stop young people from getting the drugs that kill them. But first, we'd have to admit we have a problem. Like stopping doing drugs, it just takes getting past denial and admitting we have a problem and deciding to deal with it. After that, solving the problem is the easy part.
