Shelley clobbers Canyon Ridge

Shelley running back Ryker Clinger looks for running room in the Russets' win over Canyon Ridge on Friday.

A week ago, Shelley entered the Class 4A rankings for the first time in awhile. The Russets were on the rise.

Well, now they're climbing even higher. In the new media poll, released Tuesday afternoon, Shelley checked in at No. 2 in 4A, the reward for a quick 4-0 start to the season.

On Friday, Shelley throttled Canyon Ridge 49-0. The Russets' defense is now permitting just five — no typo there — points per game. It's a new era in Shelley.

Elsewhere in the poll, Rigby maintained its stranglehold on the top spot in 5A, Skyline dropped out of the 4A ranks and South Fremont dropped one spot in 3A. Here is the rest of the poll.
