At Firth, the Firth High School volleyball team swept the Bulldogs with set scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-18.

“Our team communicated well. Their passes were good and they were scrappy on the floor,” Ririe coach Kathryn Nelson said. “We just needed a extra something tonight.”

Firth’s outside hitters played well, Firth coach Elda Park said. Kiley Mecham had seven kills. Hailey Gee had six kills.

Jordyn Adams finished with five kills and two blocks. Abby Schiess had four kills and six blocks.

“We did well,” Park said. “There’s things we can always improve.”

Ririe (2-3) plays at Butte County today. Firth (2-1, 1-0 2A District 6) hosts North Fremont Thursday.


HILLCREST 3, IDAHO FALLS 2: At Hillcrest, the Knights came from behind to beat Idaho Falls in five sets 25-20, 24-26, 22-25, 25-18 and 15-9.

A year after coaching Idaho Falls, new Hillcrest coach Amanda Wade said it was a weird coaching night despite being proud of her team’s comeback.

“It was a fun match,” Wade said. “I enjoyed coaching it ... I’m proud of my Hillcrest kids for coming from behind. Sometimes you have to push through those down-and-out situations.”

Hillcrest (3-9, 2-1 4A District 6) hosts Shelley and South Fremont Thursday. Idaho Falls (1-4, 1-3 4A) hosts Blackfoot Thursday.

MADISON 8, THUNDER RIDGE 0: At Thunder Ridge, the Madison Bobcats shutout their new conference foe to move to 10-1 on the season.

Annalise Brunson led the way with four goals and one assist, as the Bobcats had seven assists on the night.

Sydney Thueson finished with a goal and two assists, as Hannah Bolingbroke, Zabree Clark and Jyrikka Busby all scored a goal.

Breckley Birch, Ellie Allen and Abby Anderson all finished with one assist, as Madison coach Jaymon Birch said it was good to have once-injured players get back on the pitch.

“It wasn’t too bad. We started out hot,” Birch said. “It was good to have players come back from injuries and get them the ball.”

Madison led 5-0 at halftime, as it hosts Idaho Falls Thursday.

HIGHLAND 4, RIGBY 1: At Pocatello, the Highland Rams beat the Rigby Trojans 4-1.
