Skyline Grizzlies, Brayden Jensen

Skyline Grizzly Brayden Jensen (8) steps in front of Skyline Eagles’ Tyler Limpert (19) for the interception near the goal line Saturday night at Holt Arena in Pocatello during the Rocky Mountain Rumble.

Things are heating up in 4A football, with four local teams receiving votes in this week's media poll.

After beating Skyline (Utah), 36-26, the Skyline Grizzlies remained No. 1 in this week's 4A poll. The Grizzlies received six first-place votes, edging out Bishop Kelly by five points.

Hillcrest jumped from the No. 5 spot to the No. 3 spot in this week's poll. The Knights are coming off a 42-21 victory over Star Valley (Wyo.) and will play Madison in week two. Idaho Falls, coming off a 34-33 thriller over Lewiston, received one first-place vote and eight total points, but not enough to crack the top-5.

In the 5A section, Madison remained at the No. 5 spot after beating Lake City 42-6 in week one.

Sugar-Salem dropped in 3A — second to fourth — following a 16-14 loss to defending 2A state champion, Declo. Sugar-Salem (0-1) hosts Snake River on Friday.

In 2A, North Fremont and Firth both received votes, but not enough to make the top-5. Firth, ranked fourth during the preseason poll, lost to West Side 36-6.

Finally in 1A D1, Challis cracked the top-5 following a 48-0 win over Mackay. The Vikings, ranked fifth, play Friday at Friday. Butte County received one vote in this week's poll after losing to North Gem 48-42 in overtime.
