At Hillcrest, the Hillcrest High School boys soccer team shut out Rigby, 3-0, thanks to two goals from Jake Hoover in the second half.

Hoover also assisted on Balor Reilly’s goal in the first half, as the Knights led 1-0 at halftime.

Hillcrest coach Ryan Ellis said he was proud of his team’s ability to respond in the second half.

“It was a physical game. but the boys really responded well in the second half and played well,” Ellis said.

Hillcrest (9-1-3, 5-0-2 4A District 6) hosts Skyline Tuesday.


At Capital, the Firth Cougars won the Capital Tournament by beating seven teams.

Firth defeated Compass Charter, Garden Valley, Cole Valley Christian, North Star Charter, Weiser, Council and Gooding en route to the tournament win.

Jordyn Adams had 34 digs and eight blocks during the tournament. Abby Schiess had 29 kills and 14 blocks. Hailey Gee had 39 kills and Kiley Mecham added 21 kills and four blocks. Kaydee Park had 119 assists.

The Cougars finished with 52 aces during the tournament.

“We worked on some things and our serves,” Firth coach Elda Park said. “The girls were really aggressive and you can see that with our serves.”

Firth hosts Salmon Tuesday.
