Idaho State Police now say they’re uncertain who was driving an all-terrain vehicle that crashed earlier this month in Island Park, killing both of the four-wheeler’s riders.

Idaho State Police issued a press release Aug. 25 stating that “it is undetermined at this point” whether Brent Thueson, 33, of Idaho Falls, or Triana Galley, 28, of Rigby, was driving the ATV when it crashed.

Both were riding the ATV at the time and both died at the scene after the four-wheeler left Fish Creek Road and struck a tree around 12:50 a.m. Aug. 4, state police said.

In a press release issued on Aug. 4 after the crash, state police said Thueson was the ATV’s driver and Galley was the passenger.

The state police and local media outlets received several phone calls from Thueson’s family and friends saying that press release was incorrect. The family and friends said Thueson was the ATV’s passenger and Galley was the driver at the time of the crash.

Those phone calls prompted state police to take another look at the crash last week, resulting in Sunday’s press release saying that it’s uncertain who was driving the ATV.

State police said in their Sunday press release that some of the new information about the accident came from people who were with Thueson and Galley on the night of the crash. State police said they also conferred with the Fremont County Coroner’s Office before issuing Sunday’s press release. Island Park is in Fremont County and Fremont County Coroner Brenda Dye responded to the crash.

Idaho State Police have not yet released additional information on the wreck.
